Controllers EDU series

EDU power supply and control units act as AC to DC transformers and torque controllers.
The electronic control circuit cuts the power supply to the motor in response to the clutch action as soon as the pre-set torque has been reached.

Heavy duty construction for industrial environment with as many options as you can name (soft start, adjustable speed, torque signal,screw depth control, number of cycles control, remote start, remote reverse, multiple outputs, etc.) position these controllers at the top of their class.

The “INSPECTOR” EDU.../PLC Controller

The EDU.../PLC controller is a simple, unexpensive but yet complete programmable system which gives you all the advantages of controlling the functions of both the electric tool and the assembly process without complex programming.

The INSPECTOR can be connected to all Kolver electric screwdriver to act as power supply, torque controller, screw counter, batch counter, part insertion detector, part removal detector, screw depth verifier.
No extra devices are needed. It can be interfaced with any other PLC to activate other functions.
All functions can be operated independently as a single function or at the same time for complete control and monitoring of the assembly process.
The INSPECTOR is easily programmed with user interface screens on the front panel.

The INSPECTOR will give the operator the following indications:

  • A single fastening cycle has been properly carried out in terms of clutch signal received, minimum screwing time overcome (to avoid counting twice or more the same screw in case the clutch clicks twice or more unintentionally or you operate the driver on the same screw intentionally), maximum screwing time not elapsed.

  • The pre set number of fastening cycles has been carried out successfully and accepted; the unit needs to be resetted for next cycle (the number of cycles can be easily set and changed). The reset can be automatic too.

  • The display will show continuously total number of screws done, number of screws correctly done, number of screws wrongly done, number of screws still to be done to complete the assembly. An assembly is indicated as complete when all the required screws have been successfully fastened.


The INSPECTOR can be also programmed for the following functions:

  • Check the part to be assembled has been inserted into its nest.

  • In case of screws to be driven to a certain depth rather than to a certain torque this function can be selected and will count the screws too.

  • Release Torque and lever signals

  • Accept Remote start.

  • Release an Alarm signal to stop the driver and/or external equipment.

  • Run automatic cycle, downstroke and return, with programmable intervals.


The INSPECTOR comes in 2 models:

  • model number EDU1FR/PLC for FAB & RAF drivers;

Multiple torque system with socket tray

The multiple torque system is designed to expand the functionality of the PLUTO screwdriver and EDU1AE controller by enabling easy access to multiple torque settings with one EDU1AE controller and one Pluto driver only. Among the various models, you'll find a screwdriving system which can control up to 8 different torque levels. It consists of:

  • Control unit EDU1AE with PLC (EDU1AE/PLC/CC)

  • Socket tray 8 positions

  • Pluto screwdriver

The use is very simple and intuitive: the operator inserts the bits he will use in his application into the corresponding position in the socket tray.
Each position, marked from 0 to 7, refers to a program in the control unit where you set the required torque level.
Every time the bit is taken out of a certain position, the unit will automatically be ready to deliver the pre-set torque.
In this way a single screwdriver can manage different torque levels very quickly, i.e. just the time necessary to replace the bit (few seconds).
That is made possible by the wide torque range of PLUTO15, namely from 2 to 15 Nm.
On certain joints the screwdriver can be able to deliver a torque as low as 1 Nm.

Let's see the system in detail:

  • EDU1AE control unit with PLC monitors all the functions of the system. It is provided with a double display to help its use and programming.
    The PLC is directly connected to the bit holder box from where it receives the signal of "bit selected".
    The keys of the PLC are used to set the torque values.

  • The bit holder (socket tray) unit is supplied with 8 x 3mm holes.
    Customer will then adapt the holes to his needs.
    On request the holes can be customized according to the customer's specifications.
    In case the operator extracts simultaneously more than one bit, the system will signal the mistake and stop the screwdriver.
    The position of each bit/socket is marked by a laser marking for an easy and indelible identification or through a label.
    As an alternative to the socket tray, a switch box can be used.
    This box consists of 8 different buttons and each button can select a different torque value.
